Now you have the opportunity to participate in the support of an organization and a project that really means something.
ANSA (Association for Norwegian Students Abroad) Hungary has on two occasions visited several orphanages run by the Saint Francis Foundation in Transylvania. We have seen with our own eyes the terrible conditions and the extreme poverty that affect the lives of thousands of children and young adults. On the other hand, we have been surprised and inspired by how well Father Csaba and his foundation manages to take care of the 1500 children they have taken in. His foundation runs orphanages and day care centers in most parts of Romania, where they give the children an education, an opportunity to go to university, and a safe environment to grow up in.
In October 2007, 40 Norwegian students travelled to Transylvania to get a better understanding of the project that ANSA Hungary had started. This provided a lot of valuable experiences, and motivated us to keep trying to raise money for a student home, which we have since achieved. Our goal is to provide more children with better living conditions and a better life.
ANSA Hungary has started their own charity committee, which focuses solely on the Saint Francis foundation and the fund raising for the student homes. We are a group of six medical students that spend a lot of our spare time solely on this project.
Why do we do this? Haven’t we all read about the large international charity organizations, where a large percentage of the given money never reaches those who need them? We wanted the opportunity to cooperate with a well functioning foundation, where we know that every single penny is used to its purpose, and every step in the process can be followed closely.
For most Norwegians, it is expected that we will be able to go to university and have a safe comfortable future. For thousands of children in Romania, their only chance for education is Father Csaba and his foundation.
Support a project that helps children in one of the poorest corners of Europe. A project that we know helps them because we have seen it with our own eyes. We guarantee that every gift will go directly to the building of the student home.
